Fynty

The ferm-toun or village of FYNTY shown on Roy's map of 1745, no longer exists. 

The farms of Easter and Wester Whyntie continue the name.   

According to the map. the settlement lay south of the track or road between Portsoy and Banff.  This is now the B9139 road.   There is a  stony mound midway between the two farms just south of the road.

This could be the site of Fynty. It  would have made sense to build on solid foundations and not to use up valuable arable land.
